Congratulations to industry leaders Barwon Water and Melbourne Water on their honours at the Ozwater'21 Gala Dinner Awards.

Barwon Water picked up the Customer Experience Award for their transformational “I care. We care” CX program. Awarded for the first time and sponsored by WSAA, the award aims to recognise organisations with a strong culture of providing excellent customer experience and value for customers. The “I care. We care” CX program was designed with help from Barwon Water’s customers and staff. The program is resulting in significant service improvements, innovations and efficiencies that are helping to keep bills affordable and a bring Barwon Water a deeper level of engagement with their customers and community.

Icon Water and Southern Rural Water also received High Commendations. Icon Water for the Becoming Visible Program and their efforts to strengthen the connection between their people and the community. Whilst Southern Rural Water's $160 Million MID2030 Modernisation Program that is transforming the 100-year-old Macalister Irrigation District was also recognised for its environmental benefits.

Melbourne Water brought home the Water Industry Safety Excellence Award for their pioneering Confined Space Entry Simulator. The simulator is a world first safety training tool developed in partnership with Deakin University’s CADET Virtual Reality Training and Simulation Research Lab. It provides a ‘real world ‘ learning environment for Melbourne Water staff and contractors who regularly enter confined spaces like sewers to conduct maintenance and repairs.
