Alongside 48 businesses, industry groups, universities and civil society organisations, we’re calling on the Australian Government to use the Sustainable Development Goals as a framework for policy to ensure that Australia recovers stronger and that we are united to establish a better future.

The water industry provides the most essential of essential services, and we have a tremendous responsibility to support productive, thriving communities. Since 2017 WSAA has led an industry commitment on behalf of our members to play our part in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. During this time we released our first paper Global Goals for Local Communities, followed a year later with a Progress Report and video, and we continue to advocate for the importance of the goals. Our program is designed to encourage collaboration between water utilities, governments, regulators and the community while focusing on a sustainable future for both people and planet.

Creating a fairer, more resilient and cleaner economy does not require the reinvention of frameworks or agreements. We are in a unique position to use the SDGs as the basis for a socially just and green recovery.
