What's in a network? Members of the Climate Change, Energy and Environment Network are encouraged to share information and experiences, participate in activities and ultimately deliver value to their respective utilities.

The network covers three themes, climate, energy and environment through the following:

  • influencing government policy and regulation to ensure holistic assessment of the financial, economic, social and environmental impacts
  • adapting to, and preparing for the consequences of climate change (particularly extreme events)
  • identify and explore feasibility of waste to energy opportunities
  • realise energy and cost savings through energy efficiency
  • valuing natural assets and including them in the balance sheet

Many of the networks' members are specialists on climate change (adaptation and mitigation), energy (efficiency, renewables and resource recovery) or environment (policy and regulation). With so much ground to cover the annual Climate Change Energy and Environment Network meeting runs three streams, one for each program area. A full-group session is also held to share learnings from each stream and to inform the whole group about emerging issues and collaborative projects.   As well as the annual meeting, the network uses the WSAA member community site to identify issues, discuss and collaborate.

Some of the group’s most recent projects include:

Recent feedback from members of the network includes:

  • It's a fantastic networking opportunity; the face-to-face meeting is really valuable
  • I get a lot from the program breakout group presentations and discussions
  • I enjoy the in-depth project delivery
  • It's an opportunity to really get to know others through the social interactions (site visits, dinners, breaks)
  • It is the most relevant meeting to go to in a year
