This appraisal is for a range of Superlit filament wound (FW) and centrifugally cast (CC) GRP pipes and fittings for water and sewerage applications. The pipes are designated as Series B, based on the external diameter of the pipe.
The FW GRP pipes are offered in sizes from DN 300 to DN 4000 and the CC GRP pipes are offered in sizes from DN 400 to DN 1400. Nominal pressures are from PN1 to PN32 and standard stiffness ratings of SN1250, SN2500, SN5000, SN10000, SN15000 and SN20000 are available. Other stiffness and pressure ratings can be supplied upon request.
Pipes less than SN1000 are not recommended for buried applications while pipes with SN20000 rating are recommended for deep trench and poor soil applications.
Standard lengths for FW pipes are 2.8m, 5.8m or 11.8m. Standard lengths for CC pipes is 6m. Other lengths can be supplied upon request.
Pipes manufactured by the filament wound method offers DN 300 to DN 750 pipes with spigot outside diameters complying with Australian preferred outside diameters and DN 900 to DN 4000 pipes with spigot outside diameters complying with ISO 23856 Series B1.
Pipes manufactured by the centrifugally cast method offers DN 400 to DN 600 pipes with spigot outside diameters complying with ISO 23856 Series B2 and DN 700 to DN 1400 pipes with spigot outside diameters complying with ISO 23856 Series B1. The external diameters do not align with Australian Standard pipes.
The publication of ISO 23856:2021 combined and replaced ISO 10639:2017 (for water) and ISO 10467:2018 (for drainage and sewerage). ISO 23856 now provides a single standard to cover both Filament Wound and Centrifugally Cast GRP pipes for water, drainage or sewerage applications.
This Appraisal now aligns with WSA PS 219 and replaces PA 1419 (FW GRP for Water), PA 1420 (FW GRP for Sewerage), PA 1421 (CC GRP for Water) and PA 1422 (CC GRP for Sewerage). The superseded Appraisals will be withdrawn on 30th April 2024.
