As part of the Smart Cities and Suburbs Program, the Federal Government have developed a National Cities Performance Framework.

The intent is to track the performance of cities against a wide range of indicators under 6 policy priorities: jobs and skills; infrastructure and investment; liveability and sustainability; innovation and digital opportunities; governance, planning and regulation; and housing.

WSAA’s submission acknowledges the importance of continual improvement of cities and development of greater understanding for policy makers and makes recommendations of indicators and data sources that could be used as indicators of environmental sustainability of a city.
