We are excited to offer three new and rewarding opportunities for young utility staff members to participate in WSAA's activities through the WSAA Personal Development Program.

Opportunities include roles in WSAA's committees, free network attendance and a chance to report on leadership events. Young utility members can expect to influence and contribute, gain exposure to senior utility members and industry peers, and further develop their leadership skills.

To ensure WSAA provides value to our younger members as well as senior leaders and technical specialists, a Personal Development Program has been developed to actively engage young utility members (30 and under). As future leaders of our organisations we have a genuine interest in what you have to say, the subject areas that interest you, and how you would like to be engaged with.

WSAA’s Personal Development Program provides the following opportunities to get involved with WSAA:

Committee representation
The young utility member will play an active role in the chosen Committee for a period of 12 months starting in July 2017. The successful candidate will attend each Committee meeting (generally three per year) and will be expected to actively contribute to discussions, participate in working groups and where possible provide insights and examples from their professional experience. Most committees are represented by senior executives and managing directors so this is a fantastic opportunity to learn from the best, and to also provide a fresh perspective. There is one position available on each of the three committees.

Applicants should send their resume and a one-page cover letter to Jaimie Hicks, Business Development Manager.

Members meeting and leadership forum events blogger
The young utility member will attend all leadership events for a period of 12 months (at least four events) and will provide a blog about each event to be published on the WSAA website.

Applicants should send their resume and an example of a blog they have written to Jaimie Hicks, Business Development Manager.

Network meeting attendance and engagement
WSAA will extend an invitation to established representatives of our networks to bring a ‘young’ (30 and under) or ‘new to the industry’ (last 12 months) utility member with them to a meeting free of charge. This provides an opportunity for exposure to other utility peers in a defined area of interest, while the young or new attendee is under the care of a senior staff member.

Please ensure you have the full support of your management before applying for these opportunities. Applications close 5.00pm Wednesday 31 May 2017.
