Following the release of the 2021-23 WSAA Strategy last year we have reviewed our Board Committees to ensure alignment. To better capitalise on emerging opportunities, the WSAA Board has endorsed the creation of the People and Capability Committee (PCC). In forming the new Committee we are also reviewing the scope and composition of the Utility Excellence Committee (UEC).

People and Capability Committee (PCC)

The PCC is primarily concerned with improving performance and preparing for the future through sharing best practice and delivery of a targeted work program. The PCC will assist utilities to improve the capability of their people while striving to become the ‘’industry of choice,’’ one that promotes diversity and inclusion, and that aims to be free from harm and injury (both physical and psychological). The PCC recognises that leadership, capability and culture underpin industry performance.

We are very pleased that David Ryan (SA Water) will be Chairing the PCC.  The Committee will have their first meeting on 31 March.  Key objectives for this inaugural meeting include:

  • Informing the forward work program
  • Finalising the terms of reference
  • Discuss future PCC meeting themes and formats.

Utility Excellence Committee (UEC)

The UEC is seeking to enhance the delivery of water services for the members through:

  • Enhancing digital innovation and efficiency
  • Assisting delivery of the circular economy and sustainable service delivery including through carbon smart infrastructure
  • Enabling risk resilient businesses and infrastructure
  • Operationalising innovation through the realization of a research, development and innovation ecosystem that seeks to embed innovations, builds international collaboration and leverages key partnerships to deliver optimal value to the members.

Tracey Slatter (Barwon Water) is the new Chair of the UEC. The first meeting of the revised Committee was held on 21 March. The meeting will confirm:

  • Terms of Reference
  • Whether there should be a change in title
  • Key elements of the forward work program
  • What success would look like for the group over the next 2 years and how this will be measured.

For further information contact Greg Ryan greg.ryan@wsaa.asn.au.

Minor  changes have also been made to the other two WSAA Board Committees – Customer and Industry Leadership Committee and Liveable Communities Committee.
