After the success of our inaugural personal development program to engage and advance young utility staff we are now asking for applicants to fill our 2018/19 roles.

The personal development program provides three different opportunities:

  1. Committee representation: The young utility member (35 and under) will play an active role in a WSAA Committee (Utility Excellence Committee, Liveable Communities Committee or the Customer and Industry Leadership Committee) for a period of 12 months starting in July 2018. If successful, the applicant will work with Managing Directors and Senior Executives from the WSAA membership to consider matters of strategic significance, provide leadership and strategic insights and support the delivery of the Committee objectives.
  2. Members Meeting and Leadership Forum events blogger: The young utility member (35 and under) will attend all leadership events for a period of 12 months and be an active part of events and when required provide a blog to be published on the WSAA website.
  3. Network meeting attendance and engagement: WSAA will extend an invitation to established representatives of our Networks to bring a ‘young’ (35 and under) or ‘new to the industry’ (last 12 months) utility member with them free of charge. The benefit is that we provide an opportunity for exposure to other utility peers in a defined area of interest, while the ‘young’ or ‘new’ attendee is under the care of a senior staff member. No application is necessary for this opportunity, you just need to persuade your manager to let you come along.

If you are ready to move out of your comfort zone to engage in these opportunities, please send through your application letter giving us a snapshot of your skills and telling us what you can bring to the role. Don’t be afraid to inject your personality into your application and please ensure you have the full support of your manager before applying. Applications close 5.00pm Thursday 31st May 2018.
