WSAA is pleased to announce a new Water Industry Standard WSA 134 Tapping Ferrules is now available for comment.

Technical Note:  DR WSA 134

Title: Tapping Ferrules

Public Comment period Closures: 3.00 PM AEDT Friday 17th March 2023

Tapping ferrules are a commonly used product within the water industry and have traditionally been called up and certified to AS 3718 Water supply - Tap ware.  Whilst some sections of AS 3718 are relevant to tapping ferrules, the Standard is deficient in many ways, not least that the Scope includes tap ware up to a maximum operating pressure of 500kPa.

WSAA does not currently have a product specification for tapping ferrules and WSAA Codes and Appraisal Community of Practice resolved that one should be developed.

As a first step, a WSAA Water Industry Standard WSA 134 Tapping Ferrules has now been drafted utilising a Working Group drawn from suppliers and water agency representatives.

A copy of the draft is attached for review and comment. The closing date for comments and suggestions is set for close of business Friday 17th March 2023 so that further discussion can be undertaken at the WSAA Codes and Appraisal Community of Practice meeting scheduled for 21st and 22nd March.

Comments are welcome by manufacturers, supplies, designers, installers and asset owners, emailing codes@wsaa.asn.au by 3:00 PM AEDT 17th March 2023. A copy of the DR WSA 134 can be downloaded below.
