This Appraisal is for a range of AVK Series 600 unrestrained universal mechanical couplings manufactured to comply with AS/NZS 4998:2009 Bolted unrestrained mechanical couplings for water works purposes. This Issue 3 is a replacement for the previous version of the appraisal which had reached its 5-year expiry date.
The couplings are designed to suit a wide range of pipe OD’s and are suitable for joining spigot ends of pipe manufactured from grey or ductile cast iron, steel, PVC-U, PVC-M, PVC-O and asbestos cement. They are not suitable for joining PE pipes.
The range includes straight couplings and stepped couplings in sizes from DN 80 to DN 225 with short barrel and long barrel configurations. The end rings are thermal bonded polymeric coated ductile iron and the barrels are manufactured from either thermal bonded polymeric coated ductile iron or Grade 316 stainless steel. Options include incorporation of either M12 or M16 Grade 316 stainless steel fasteners.
